About Listing

They offer bereavement support and counselling for bereaved families and friends, including children (aged 4-18), of people who have been cared for by St Joseph’s, whether in the hospice or at home, or by other hospices. They also support adults (18+) who live in City and Hackney or are registered with a City and Hackney GP who have experienced a bereavement that was not connect to St Joseph’s or who are anticipating the death of a close friend or relative from an advanced, terminal illness.

Support options:

  • They can see people on their own, with other family members or as part of a group according to need and preference.
  • Counselling with children may involve the use of arts, creativity and play.
  • Most of our services are provided at the hospice, but if this is difficult to arrange, they can offer telephone counselling. In special circumstances they can also meet people at their GP surgery, school and for patients, at home.
  • St Joseph’s also have a Bereavement Forum, which is a web community for bereaved relatives, friends and carers of people who were under the care of St Joseph’s Hospice. Please not that you have to complete a registration form to access the forum.
