Streetwise is a charity in Newcastle upon Tyne, which offers an informal, safe, confidential, non-judgemental space for young people aged 11 – 25 years. young people can talk about a range of issues including the death of someone close to them. Young people can access weekly face-to-face counselling in Newcastle city centre, or use Skype or Instant Messaging online. Referrals for counselling can come from anywhere in the North East region (Newcastle, Gateshead, Northumberland, North Tyneside, South Tyneside, Sunderland and Durham). All sessions are confidential, but if a young person is under the age of 13 they will need to get their parents/carers consent to have counselling. Streetwise also offers a drop in advice and information service for young people in Newcastle city centre.
